HARRISBURG, Ore. – A bomb threat prompted students and staff to evacuate from two Harrisburg schools on Monday morning, the Linn County Sheriff’s Office said.

Officials said the threat appears to be a hoax.

Someone found a note at Harrisburg Middle School about 9:30 a.m. that threatened to “blow it up at 11:00 a.m.”

Deputies helped evacuate the school and the nearby elementary as a safety precaution.

With the help of Oregon State Police, deputies then searched both campuses. They didn’t find anything suspicious or hazardous, a report states.

“The Linn County Sheriff's Office takes every threat seriously. The safety of our children and schools is our highest priority,” officials said Monday.

Anyone who has helpful information about this threat can call the sheriff’s office at (541) 967-3911.
