Shakespeare in the Park holds auditions for actors, musicians, crew members
EUGENE, Ore. – A Eugene theater company is holding open auditions and looking for their next Shakespearean stars.
Free Shakespeare in the Park is a nonprofit community theater company founded 19 years ago.
They offer free public performances every weekend in August at the Amazon Community Center.
Local actors are auditioning for Henry V, opening on August 5.
During auditions, the actors performed a one-minute monologue from Shakespeare that they prepared themselves.
"Shakespeare is one of the easiest authors to perform on stage because he tells you exactly what he wants you to do; it's right there in the script,” said Sharon Selove, artistic producing director and founder of Shakespeare in the Park.
The theater company is looking for actors ages 13 and up. They're also looking for musicians and crew members.
If you are interested in auditioning, another round will be held on Saturday at the Amazon Community Center. You can stop by between 1-4 p.m.
Once the actors are selected and accept the roles, rehearsals will begin in June.
