LANE COUNTY, Ore. – Mother nature in Oregon is both a beauty and a beast.

“Certainly never crossed my mind when we were up there hiking that people die up there,” said Alison Prokop.

Lane County is known for its outdoors and to search and rescue, it’s known for dozens of people who need their help every year.

“Hear those stories all of the time, we never thought we'd be one of those stories,” said Braedon Howard.

Prokop is a medical professional and Howard served in the military, but even they weren’t immune to getting stuck in the woods.

The two were enjoying a day hike near the Willamette National Forest in February when the trip took a turn for the worse. Their car became trapped in the snow.

Find out how long they were out in the forest and how search and rescue found them #LiveOnKMTR Monday, May 15 at 6:30 p.m.
