Roseburg motorcyclist dead after colliding with SUV
WINSTON, Ore. - A motorcyclist crossed the center line in a curve and collided with an oncoming SUV Thursday afternoon, Oregon State Police said.
The rider suffered critical injuries, police said. He died after arriving at the hospital.
The crash happened at 3:30 p.m. on Highway 42 west of Winston near Tenmile.
The investigation found that Tommy Sarratt, 69, of Roseburg was riding westbound on a 2003 Yamaha V-Star motorcycle.
Sarratt crossed the center line in a curve and collided with an oncoming 2015 Dodge Durango driven by 63-year-old Jonathan Eastwood of Glide.
Medics rushed Sarratt to Mercy Medical Center by ambulance. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Eastwood was treated at the scene for minor injuries, police said.
The crash response closed the highway for about 90 minutes.
The crash remains under investigation.
