Road construction delays traffic in Eugene
EUGENE, Ore. - If you drove through Eugene Monday, you may have encountered some road construction.
And it’s not just in Eugene; Monday it started throughout Lane County.
In Eugene, the projects include west 1st, 2nd and 3rd Avenues.
Officials recommend planning ahead and leaving early to reach your destination.
Construction crews on the projects will replace concrete, storm pipes, and fill potholes.
Public works officials say a lot of money for the projects comes from a bond passed in 2012.
“We have about $8.5 million from that road bond is going to fix some of these streets, as well as about $3 million from gas tax money,” said Briand Richardson from Eugene Public Works.
Richardson said the city has 17 road projects that will be going on throughout the summer.
Drivers should use caution in work zones and look out for traffic control signs and flaggers.
