Renovation Nation: Turning an old Eugene house into a modern home
EUGENE, Ore. – Home improvement shows are gaining big audiences across the nation. Shows like “Flip or Flop” and “Fixer Upper” are showing us that it is possible to turn an outdated space into a modern hangout with relative ease.
“I've always watched the HGTV shows, and I really love the creative process. So I think that was something we were looking for,” said Janice Halka.
Eugene contractor and HGTV contributor Jordan Iverson said he’s seen substantial growth in consumer spending. He said people were more conservative a decade ago when the housing crisis left many families struggling just to pay their mortgages.
Now he says he has a different problem.
“Our problem now is finding labor,” Iverson said.
