Public hearing Wednesday on proposed housing development near Hendricks Park
EUGENE, Ore. - A proposed 34-lot development next to Hendricks Park is the topic of a public hearing Wednesday night.
Thomas Dreyer wants to develop the 13.6 acres at the top of Capital Drive in Eugene.
He says the development would fit the City’s desire for infill development, and that there are buffers built into the plan to keep as many trees as possible.
The Laurel Hill Valley and Fairmont neighborhood associations largely oppose the development. Opponents say they are worried about increased traffic; the removal of nearly 500 trees to make way for homes; and future concerns about landslides.
A public hearing on the application to build the development starts at 5:30 p.m. at Harris Hall.
