Psychiatric patient who escaped custody in Eugene 'should not be approached'
JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - A psychiatric patient is missing from custody of the Junction City campus of the Oregon State Hospital, the Oregon Health Authority says.
Peace Dawn Wickham, 34, was reported missing Thursday.
Wickham was last seen at Laurel Hill Center in Eugene just before 2 p.m. while attending a treatment group.
"Two Oregon State Hospital staff members assigned to escort Wickham lost visual contact when he ran off from the group," the state said in a statement.
The state asks anyone who sees him to call 911 or contact Oregon State Police 1-800-452-7888.
"Wickham is not considered to be a danger to himself or others. He is accused of unauthorized departure," the state said in a press release. "Wickham should not be approached."
State officials said Wickham was admitted to the state hospital from Lane County on Nov. 10, 2016, after being found guilty except for insanity on the charges of assault 2, unlawful possession of a weapon and felon in possession of a restricted weapon.
State hospital officials described "Wickham as an African-American male, 6 feet 1 inch tall, 215 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. When last seen, he was wearing a blue sweatshirt, blue jeans and gray sneakers. Wickham also has tattoos on both forearms and a large afro."
