Officials say the incident began around 2 p.m. when Eugene Police officers pursued a stolen 2001 Buick Regal on Highway 58 heading east.
After several miles, OSP took over the pursuit.
Police say Deschutes County set up spike strips, but the suspect was able to avoid them.
At milepost 65, police stopped pursuing the driver for safety reasons. However, police later found the Buick crashed at milepost 77. They do not know the cause of the crash at this time.
Police say the suspect fled on foot after the crash. They describe him as a white man wearing a black jacket. He has facial hair and is estimated to be 5 feet 10 inches tall.
