Eugene Police seek video, info on cars in homicide investigation

EUGENE, Ore. - Police investigating the killing of Anthony Xavier Johnson have asked the public for help identifying possible witnesses and locating additional video recordings of people and vehicles in the neighborhood the night the 24-year-old died.

To help gather information, police established an Anthony Johnson Homicide tip line at (541) 682-5175.

Police on Tuesday described Johnson's death as a homicide. They have not commented publicly on the cause of death.

Johnson was killed around 6:30 p.m. near W. 4th Avenue between Monroe and Adams streets in the Whiteaker neighborhood, police said.

The Eugene Police Department plans to canvass the area from W. 1st Avenue to W. 8th Avenue, Jefferson Street to Blair Boulevard, looking for witnesses and anyone with video.

Police are interested in any video recorded in the area on September 1 between 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., from W. 1st Ave to W. 8th Ave, Jefferson to Blair.

Anyone with information or video is asked to call the tip line at (541) 682-5175.
