Police: Pickup crashed at high speed after multiple hit-and-runs in parking lot
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Two brothers were taken to the hospital after their pickup truck collided with two other vehicles and then crash at an estimated 60 mph and crash Monday, Springfield Police said.
Lt. Scott McKee said police received multiple reports of hit-and-run crashes at Mohawk and Centennial starting around 1 p.m.
Then callers reported a crash on 18th Street near Scott Road, behind Bi-Mart.
Police arrested 29-year-old Michael Loren Wyman and cited him in lieu of custody two counts of hit and run, two counts of reckless endangering, and two counts of fourth-degree assault. Additionally, he was charged with reckless driving, DUII, DWS, and driving with no insurance.
"This is the suspect vehicle from those hit-and-runs," McKee said.
A witness told police the pickup left the parking lot at an estimated 60 mph - then crashed.
"I think we're really fortunate that no innocent bystanders got hurt or killed in this busy parking lot," McKee said. "You look at this damage and it's really shocking that anyone got out of this car."
The events leading up to the crash are under investigation, McKee said.
