Police: Drunken wrong-way driver crashed through 3 fences, hit school
EUGENE, Ore. - A wrong-way, drunken driver crashed through three chain-link fences and hit a preschool building early Monday morning, Eugene Police said.
Police said Timothy Stocker, 22, was driving the wrong way on Hilyard Street at high speed when his car left the road just south of E. 24th Avenue around 12:36 a.m.
"Stocker’s vehicle went through three chain-link fences before striking the north side of the school causing significant structural damage," police said. "Stocker’s vehicle sustained extensive damage and he was unconscious when officers arrived and had to be extricated by Eugene Springfield Fire."
The crash damaged Far Horizons Montessori School.
Medics took Stocker to the hospital.
PeaceHealth public relations said Stocker is listed in critical conditions in the hospital.
Officers arrested Stocker on charges of DUII, Reckless Driving and two counts of Criminal Mischief in the Second Degree.
