Police: Bicyclist injured by racing vehicle in Springfield

Police say a bicyclist was injured in Springfield Wednesday, May 10, 2017 when he or she was hit by a vehicle involved in a speed contest. (SBG photo)

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – A bicyclist was struck by a vehicle and injured in Springfield Wednesday afternoon, according to the Springfield Police Department.

According to Lt. Scott McKee from SPD, the bicyclist received non-life threatening injuries.

The crash occurred around 4:19 p.m. at 12th Street and E Street.

After investigating, police determined a speed contest involving two motor vehicles contributed to the crash. Police located both of the motorists and they are involved in the investigation.
