One on One with Tom Pappas
Eugene, Ore - Decathlete and World Record holder Ashton Eaton continues his quest for the Olympic Gold in Rio. Thursday we sat down with three time Olympian Tom Pappas to get his take on what it's like to compete in such a versatile sport. Pappas spoke about his introduction to the decathlon while attending Lane Community College. He went on to compete at the University of Tennessee. Pappas competed in the 2000, 2004, and 2008 Summer Olympics. He placed 5th in 2000 and did not finish due to injuries in the 2004 and 2008 games.
During our interview Pappas discussed balancing life around training. Instead of chasing gold, Pappas is now chasing his 4 kids with his wife, Kim. He is part owner of Lane 5 Crossfit in Eugene with his brother Billy.
