ODOT requires chains on I-5 from Eugene to Wilsonville

WINTER WEATHER RESOURCES: Traffic Conditions | Latest Forecast | Closures

EUGENE, Ore. – ODOT said chains are required on Interstate 5 from Eugene to Wilsonville, as the winter storm makes its way north in the Willamette Valley Saturday.

ODOT said due to the hazardous driving conditions, chains are required from milepost186 to milepost 283 for all vehicles over 10,000 pounds and all vehicles towing.

Traction tires are allowed in place of chains on vehicles not towing that weigh less than 10,000 pounds.

Freezing rain, sleet and snow created very slick roadways, especially on I-5.

ODOT warns travelers there could be a layer of ice under the snow.

They say the best plan is to not drive and to wait for temperatures to rise and for conditions to improve.
