Oaklea students paint murals in school halls
JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - A group of Oaklea Middle School students unleashed their creativity Thursday thanks to local arts groups and a local mural artist.
Students worked with mural artist Bayne Gardner to design and paint four murals in the hallways at the school.
The murals represent the positive traits Oaklea graduates learn. The artwork features the school's mascot, the tigers.
Students say it's a chance to leave their mark on their school.
"It's been really fun because it lets us express our artistic creativity," student Regan Morris said.
"I think that it's very fun to just really be able to express yourself and your school and stuff and not really have a lot of rules," Nyla Reeslev said.
Gardner works on the projects through the company Imagination International.
Oaklea also worked with the Lane Arts Council on this project.
