EUGENE, Ore. - A motorcyclist died in a crash with a loaded log truck Thursday, the Lane County Sheriff's Office confirmed.

The crash happened around noon near the intersection of King Ranch Road and Little Fall Creek.

"Preliminary investigation indicates that the motorcycle was travelling eastbound on Little Fall Creek Rd. and crossed the center line, colliding with the log truck in the westbound lane," the sheriff's office said in a statement.

The identities of the people involved are not yet available.

The motorcyclist died at the scene.

Medics examined the log truck driver but details about the driver's injuries, if any, are not yet known.

Oregon State Police responded to the scene to conduct an accident reconstruction investigation.

Once the investigation is complete, the clean up of the crash scene can begin, authorities at the scene said.

That will include removing the logs from the log truck, which crashed into a ditch along the road. Then crews will work to recover the truck and trailer.
