Missing Portland-area woman turns up safe in Roseburg
PORTLAND, Ore. The 23-year-old woman who disappeared Saturday night under strange circumstances was found in Roseburg at around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.
The sheriff’s office said a tip from the public led Lane County sheriff’s deputies to Demi Helenius. They determined she was safe and in good health.
Helenius attended the Landmark Worldwide Forum, a self-improvement seminar, at the Embassy Suites Hotel near the Portland airport Saturday night.
She lives with her mom, who told officials her daughter is usually good about calling and texting when she leaves somewhere. But she did not call Saturday night and never returned home.
Helenius’ phone was given to a worker at a Dairy Queen in Creswell on Saturday night by a man passing through the drive-through.
Her car was found in the town of Cottage Grove, which is about 10 miles south of Creswell on the I-5 corridor.
The Washington County Sheriff's Office released no other information Tuesday night but thanked the public and other law enforcement agencies for their help.
