'Major hazardous materials situation' closes Hwy 101 at Hwy 126 in Florence
FLORENCE, Ore. - Highway 101 was closed at the intersection with Highway 126W due to "a major hazardous materials situation," Oregon DOT said. | CURRENT TRAFFIC
"Traffic is being detoured," ODOT said in a statement. "There is an emergency response in the area."
Chief Jim Langborg from Siuslaw Fire and Rescue said a broken feeder pipe from a propane tank is leaking at a gas station. Langborg said it is still bleeding off and there is no way of containing the leak. He said there's about 20 percent left in the propane tank as of 4 p.m.
The roads were back open about 15 minutes later.
