EUGENE, Ore. - A nationwide effort to register citizens to vote went underway today, and in Lane County, the League of Women Voters registered people to vote outside of the downtown Eugene Public Library.

The group was tasked with letting residents know about the next upcoming election on November 7.

Keli Osborn, the Vice President of the League of Women Voters, says there are other non-profits in Eugene doing similar work.

"The Oregon Student Association, which is a non-profit that does education and advocacy across the state on college campus, was registering University of Oregon students and probably Lane Students during move-in week," said Osborn.

The upcoming election will have city-specific ballots, and the deadline to register is on October 17.
