LCC students prep for Food Scene Eugene event
EUGENE, Ore. - Things are heating up in the kitchen at Lane Community College.
Culinary and hospitality students at the college are gearing up for a big event next month: Food Scene Eugene.
On Friday, culinary students practiced preparing finger foods that they plan on presenting in a couple of weeks at the food festival.
Hospitality students planned the practice event, and they said they value the hands-on experience.
“I'm really passionate about it, I love planning events. At my job now I get to plan events and that's what brings me excitement and it's my passion,” said Naomi Kimmelman, a first-year hospitality student.
Kimmelman said she is excited for Food Scene Eugene, where there will be chef and mixology competitions.
She said at the event, culinary students get creative: one year when they made a cotton-candy-bacon creation.
Food Scene Eugene takes place on May 5 and 6 at Lane Community College.
