Kibble on Wheels: Food for Lane County extends a helping paw
EUGENE, Ore. - Food for Lane County's "Meals on Wheels" program in Eugene is expanding their services to pets.
On Thursday, the non-profit delivered their first bags of dog food to Eugene resident Caryl Piatt and her dog Curtis.
Piatt is a regular Meals on Wheels recipient and struggles to afford dog food. She says her five-year-old lab weighs over 100 pounds and is expensive to feed.
Now, "Kibble on Wheels" is helping out by delivering dog food every month.
"There's a lot of us out there that don't have the money to buy the dog food," said Piatt. "This gives our dogs the opportunity to have some nutritious food."
Right now, "Kibble on Wheels" is just a pilot program with only a few clients. Food for Lane County cannot take on any more clients until they find a sponsor.
