Hospital may cut or shift some nursing jobs
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A handful of nursing positions could potentially be cut in the coming months.
Last week, nurses at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend received an email notifying them that nursing positions may change.
PeaceHealth works with the Oregon Nursing Association, ONA, who says PeaceHealth is proposing to eliminate discharge nurses and resource nurses - totaling 17 positions - who provide specific patient care.
ONA says there is not a plan to replace those duties yet and nurses are worried about patient care.
PeaceHealth released a statement saying: "PeaceHealth is shifting a number of nursing assignments to ensure we provide the best care for our patients."
This is still a proposal and no decisions have yet been made.
