EUGENE, Ore. - Forecasts call for heavy snow in the Cascades of Lane County Tuesday afternoon through Wednesday morning.

If your schedule requires travel over the passes on Tuesday, check cameras and traffic conditions before you leave - and give yourself extra time.

"Be prepared for winter-like driving conditions during this time if you plan on traveling over Santiam Pass along Highway 20, Willamette Pass along Highway 58 and through Government Camp along Highway 26," the National Weather Service said.

(Remember: Highway 22 is CLOSED east of Detroit until further notice in the aftermath of a deadly fuel truck crash and fire there)

"Look for significant reductions in visibility at times. Roads will be wet as the transition to snow begins, then will freeze as snowfall increases," forecasters cautioned.
