Have you seen this man? 'He is considered armed and dangerous'
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Police made a public appeal for help Thursday evening for help locating 33-year-old Adam Summerlyn, a suspect in the shooting on Forsythia Street earlier in the day.
"He is considered to be armed and dangerous," Springfield Police said. "If you have any info on his whereabouts, contact us immediately at 541-726-3714."
Police used a drone and K9 officers to search for a suspect after officers found a man with a gunshot wound to the abdomen at the home around 8:30 a.m.
The man was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries and was moved to intensive care following emergency surgery, officials said.
The man had been transported by Eugene-Springfield EMS personnel to Sacred Heart Hospital at Riverbend shortly before 9 a.m. when he was found lying in his front yard.
Police set up a perimeter to search for the suspect.
"Because we got in the area relatively quickly, we think he might still be in this close area," McKee said a few hours into the manhunt.
By Thursday afternoon, police could be seen entering the home where the shooting victim was found.
Police had initially believed the suspect fled to the north. Officers concentrated the search near 42nd and Daisy streets.
Investigators later said that man was a possible witness, and police still want to talk to him.
"The house is described by a neighbor as being a place where there is frequent short-stay traffic," McKee said, "so we don't know what relationship there is between the shooter and the victim."
