Guaranty celebrates 50 years in Junction City
JUNCTION CITY, Ore. - Guaranty celebrated 50 years in business on Thursday.
A half century ago, Herb Nill purchased the Chevrolet-Oldsmobile dealership in Junction City, Oregon, with money he'd saved up selling cars after putting himself through college.
He started work at his new business at 2:30 a.m. on October 20, 1966.
Guaranty joined the RV business in 1972. The company became one of the biggest RV dealers in the country.
Over the years, the business became well-known in the community and for its TV ads, including the tagline "Eggs are cheaper in the country" and the Civil War rivalry between Herb and his son, Shannon.
Herb died in March.
The business he launched will celebrate the milestone with a 50th Anniversary Open House from noon to 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 20.
Festivities continue through the weekend.
