Fire Update: Crews monitor lightning-caused fires
Fire crews are keeping the Whitewater Fire in check near Mount Jefferson.
Two small lightning-caused fires from Thursday's storms were found located approximately three miles southeast of the Breitenbush Community on Devil's Ridge.
The new fires are in steep terrain and being kept in check with aircraft.
On the larger Whitewater Fire, crews continue to work and secure the prior day's burnout options.
Aircraft assisted with the initial attack on six new small lightning-caused fires in the Willamette National Forest, specifically in the ODF North Cascade District.
Located several miles south, the Rebel Fire has triggered closures to some campgrounds across the area.
The closure includes a large section, approximately 31 miles, of the Aufderheide Scenic Byway (Forest Service Rd 19), from Delta Campground south to the North Fork Trailhead.
