Euzine Comics & Zine Fest introduces the city to a national trend
EUGENE, Ore. -- For the first time ever, Eugene held a Euzine Comics and Zine Fest.
Zines are collections of handmade artwork, such as a story, a how-to guide, photographs or anything similar.
Co-organizer Jamie Walsh said festivals to share these creations are popping up all over the country.
About 50 artists from the west coast displayed, shared and traded their designs in downtown Eugene Saturday.
"It's just like a great way to share your ideas, share your creativity, and learn from other people too," Walsh said. "I think people are maybe appreciating that tangibility a little more these days."
She says zines are a thriving form of paper goods in an increasingly digital era.
She hopes the Euzinefest becomes an annual tradition.
