Eugene runner will represent Greece in Rio Olympics
EUGENE, Ore. - The 2016 Olympic Games are just three months away and long distance runner Alexi Pappas is training hard for the international competition.
26-year-old Pappas lives and trains in Eugene. She even attended the University of Oregon.
Pappas won the season-opener 5K at the Oregon relays, but it was the Olympic standard in the 10K in California where she qualified for the 2016 Olympics.
She qualified with a personal best of 31 minutes and 46 seconds.
"It was an amazing moment to cross and see that and feel like I had accomplished something that I knew I was capable of but I still needed to do it," Pappas said.
Pappas will represent Greece in the Olympics.
