Emerald Dog Obedience Club hosts national qualifier at Lane Events Center
EUGENE, Ore. -- Dog owners flocked to Eugene Saturday to see which dog had the best manners.
The Emerald Dog Obedience Club welcomed more than 200 dog owners Saturday to the Lane Events Center where dogs of different breeds had the chance to win over judges with obedience.
The show serves as a qualifier for national competitions.
One trainer said it’s not about the competition; it’s about spending time with your dog.
"One philosophy that says it’s not what the dog does in the ring, it's the journey, it’s the training of the dog to get him to the ring, which is important and fun," said dog trainer Jill Jones.
If you missed the obedience show Saturday, a second round of competition takes place Sunday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
