Driver accused of hitting bicyclist, leaving scene of crash in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - Police arrested a driver accused of hitting a bicyclist with his pickup truck and driving away, leaving the bicyclist in the road.

The bicyclist was taken to the hospital and is expected to survive the injuries.

The crash happened around 4:18 p.m. Wednesday at 12th and E streets in Springfield, police said.

"Witnesses reported the vehicle, a white pickup, was observed possibly racing another pickup prior to the accident," Springfield Police said in a statement. "Witnesses provided a general description of the suspect vehicle, which was located a short time later by a Springfield patrol officer."

Officers arrested Kenny Lee Trisdale, 27, on a charge of Felony Hit and Run.

Police said the driver of the other pickup has also been located.
