Deputies search for missing Junction City man
NOTI, Ore. - The Lane County Sheriff's Office asks for the public's assistance in locating a man who was last seen in Noti.
LCSO says they received a report on December 16 that 21-year-old Edgar Daran-Valez of Junction City was missing. They say Daran-Valez was last seen in Noti. They say he left work at approximately 2 a.m. on December 16 and was heading home to Junction City, but never arrived.
Deputies say just before midnight on the day he went missing, family members located evidence of a motor vehicle crash on High Pass road at a bridge across the Long Tom River. The evidence suggested a vehicle left the roadway and ended up in the river.
Fire resources responded, but no vehicle was visible at that time. The following morning, the Lane County Sheriff's Office responded to the area and located something they believed was a car submerged downstream from the crash scene.
The Lane County Sheriff's Office Dive Team attempted to recover the vehicle, but they weren't successful due to safety concerns and high current in the area.
On the morning of December 19, family and friends located the vehicle once again and attached a buoy to it. This, along with decreased flow provided by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, allowed the dive team to recover the vehicle on December 20.
Investigators did not find Daran-Valez inside the vehicle and the search for him is ongoing. They say there is no evidence of criminal activity related to the case.
