LEBANON, Ore. -- A motor vehicle crash on Interstate-5 at milepost 228 near the Lebanon exit closed the southbound lanes for two hours as emergency crews worked to free an occupant trapped inside, officials said.

Officials say the vehicle crashed into the guardrail, trapping the driver inside by the guardrail.

The call came in at 2:16 a.m. with Albany and Tangent fire crews responding along with Oregon State Police, Linn County Sheriff's Office and Oregon Department of Transportation.

I-5 southbound was closed for two hours.

The driver was the only person in the vehicle, the report said.

Fire officials on scene said the driver was conscious and alert when he was extricated. He was rushed to the hospital, but his exact status is unknown.
