Cottage Grove mayor and mayor-elect try their hand at pole dancing
COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. – Some elected officials in Cottage Grove headed to the poles, not the polls, Tuesday night.
Mayor Thomas Munroe and Mayor-elect Jeff Gowing took a pole dancing class in the name of charity.
It all began as a bet made by Gowing before the November election.
He bet if he won the mayor’s race, he’d sign up for a pole dancing class at the Cottage Grove Body Studio.
The community pinned money on Munroe and Gowing. The funds went to the family relief nursery.
“This is what Cottage Grove does. We're a small community. We like to take care of our people so it's a really good thing to do something like this for charity,” Gowing said.
The event raised $200 for Relief Nursery.
The charity helps prevent child abuse through its family program and support services.
The Relief Nursery said they’re happy with the turnout and they’ve never raised money at an event like this before. They’re grateful for the community support.
