Cottage Grove marijuana business catches fire, one person taken to burn center
COTTAGE GROVE, Ore. -- One person is being flown to a Portland hospital Thursday night after a structure fire in Cottage Grove.
South Lane Fire officials said a fire started in a machine at a marijuana business on Lane Street.
Crews say they arrived to find a working fire but they quickly knocked it down.
"It appeared to be a processing machine that was burning that started the fire,” South Lane Division One Fire Marshal Danny Solesby said. “One victim was taken to Cottage Grove hospital and will be transported, probably, to Portland for burns. I don’t know the extent of the burns."
Fire officials say that person was already out of the building when they arrived but is being taken to a burn center.
There is no known cause or estimate of damages yet and the fire remains under investigation.
The structure wasn’t damaged, officials said, adding that fire was confined to processing equipment.
