Boy's 'Make a Wish' dreams come true at the Oregon Zoo
PORTLAND, Ore. —
The force was strong at the Oregon Zoo Saturday morning, with super heroes and Star Wars characters roaming around for a good cause.
A 5-year-old boy named Ephraim thought he was going to the zoo just to participate in the annual 'Walk for Wishes' fundraising event for the Make a Wish Foundation, but the visit turned out to be much more special.
"It's just a dream come true for him to be able to do all this, after having so many years of difficulties," said Ephraim's father.
Ephraim has been battling a life-threatening medical condition that affects his esophagus. Now, thanks to some Jedis with tricks up their sleeves he'll be heading to Disney World's Star Wars weekends to train to be a Jedi Knight!
The Jedis granted Ephraim his wish at the zoo event.
"This was absolutely amazing, you know, something we didn't think was going to be possible at certain times when he's so sick but so blessed by everything today," said Ephraim's mother.
In Oregon and Southwest Washington, Make A Wish has granted more than 3,500 wishes over the years.
Their goal for this year is 250 wishes.
