2 killed in crash on Hwy 99; 2 other people injured
EUGENE, Ore. - A Harrisburg couple died when another driver rear-ended their vehicle and pushed it into a car waiting at a traffic light Thursday morning, Oregon State Police said.
Steven E. Skinner, 62, and Annette M. Skinner, 56, died at the scene.
Police said the Skinners' 2014 Hyundai Veloster was still rolling to a stop behind a 2014 Dodge Charger that had stopped at a light at Highway 99 and Clear Lake Road when a Toyota Camry rear-ended the car.
The impact pushed the Hyundai into the Charger.
The driver of the Camry - 88-year-old Ralph E. Gordon - and the driver of the Charger - Tandra L. Schatz, 43, of Harrisburg - suffered injuries in the crash. They were taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend for treatment.
The 9:40 a.m. crash closed all southbound lanes and one northbound lane of Hwy 99 for 3 hours while police conducted their investigation.
