18-year-old dies in Hwy 58 car wreck
EUGENE, Ore. - At approximately 4:45 p.m., the Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle fatal crash at the intersection of Highway 58 and Rattlesnake Road.
Police have identified Jonathon Lionel Brooks, 18, as the only fatality in the accident.
Preliminary investigations indicate that a 1998 Ford Ranger, driven by Brooks, was Northbound on Rattlesnake Road when Brooks failed to stop at a stop sign and entered onto Highway 58. Upon entering Hwy 58, the vehicle was struck by an Eastbound 1972 International pick-up driven by Ronald Croy, 67.
Brooks was pronounced deceased at the scene, and Croy was transported, by air, to Riverbend Hospital with serious injuries.
