Wolf Creek firefighters raising money for body cameras

Body Camera

Eugene, Ore. -- Fire Chief Steve Scruggs says the volunteer firefighters of Wolf Creek, a community north of Grants Pass, have been the targets of threats, attacks and vandalism. Their idea to stop the abuse? Body cameras. The department says that having camera's to document the inappropriate and illegal behavior will make both firefighters and the community safer. They are trying to crowd-fund $2,750 for 10 small Wolfcom Vision body cameras, the same kind used by police officers. The department's Facebook page was updated on June 16th to say that they have raised $900.

According to representatives of several Oregon firefighting associations Wolf Creed would be the first department in the state to use body cameras.
