Festival of Eugene returns: 'Be prepared for a good time'
EUGENE, Ore. - The Festival of Eugene is back for a second year Friday, Saturday and Sunday at Skinner Butte Park.
Organizers said the event, hatched after the cancelation of the Eugene Celebration in 2014, will be bigger and better than last year.
Among the draws: 58 bands on 3 stages, plus parades Saturday and Sunday.
Event producer Krysta Albert said the event has doubled in size and now includes a car show and an art auction.
Albert said they are also welcoming a new member to the team: they officially have an octupus as their mascot.
"Be prepared for a good time," Albert said. "So much to do, so much to see and it's a free event so it's going to be a good time."
Albert said they are still a little short of their funding goal; the festival is entirely donation based. Be on the lookout for donation bins throughout the festival.
