Dirty Dancing Festival remembers movie released 30 years ago this summer
LAKE LURE, N.C. (WLOS) —
The seventh annual Dirty Dancing Festival in Lake Lure is in full swing this weekend.
The festival kicked off on Friday and continued with performances and competitions, right by where the movie was filmed. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the movie, and organizers say they have had increased interest in the festival this year.
"We had more people than ever, and it's basically because of the 30th anniversary of the movie, and yesterday we celebrated Patrick Swayze's birthday," said co-producer Heather Meech.
The festival wraps up Saturday, with several after-parties planned for locations throughout Lake Lure.
