Acts of Kindness: 'There is somebody that does care'
EUGENE, Ore. - Candie Ellis has worked at the Delta Oaks Lane County Community Health Center for about two years now.
The clinic serves people of all backgrounds, including folks with limited insurance coverage; those who have special needs; or even those who haven't visited a doctor in years.
"They're coming to you, almost as a last resort. and to give them that little bit of hope, or something to hang onto knowing that there is somebody that does care and somebody that does want to spend a little time," she said.
Candie works at the front of the center.
Her coworkers say she's essential to keeping operations running smoothly.
"By the time they get to me, they've had to see all these other folks," Dr. Charles Crispen said. "So they're all burned out on their stresses and the people in front of me do all that I just walk in and do my thing."
Candie's key to de-stressing situations?
"She's very dedicated, very patient - she goes out of her way to meet the needs of the patients and the families, and everybody loves her," said Lisa Riberal, the nursing site supervisor.
