TrackTown Tuesday at Hayward Field July 15
From a press release
The season finale of "TrackTown Tuesday" promises to be the biggest ever. Come join us as we get ready to celebrate one week until the opening ceremonies of the IAAF World Junior Championships Oregon 2014.
The party will be held Tuesday, July 15 at Hayward Field. A unique social hour begins at 6 p.m. with free food and beer served on the west high jump apron inside the stadium. The one-hour show starts at 7 p.m.
Our featured guest will be Oregon freshman Devon Allen, the reigning USA and NCAA champion in the 110-meter high hurdles.
In addition, we will be joined by athletes and team officials from Great Britain, who just arrived in Corvallis to begin training for World Juniors at the Whyte Track and Field Center at Oregon State University.
Grete Koens, head coach of The Netherlands, has also confirmed that she will be in attendance, while Olympian Ian Dobson, of TrackTown USA, and Eugene marathoner Craig Leon will talk about the "elite" portion of the Eugene Marathon, which will be held Sunday, July 27 at 6 a.m.
Allen, who also plays wide receiver for the UO football team, ran the second-fastest time in collegiate history when he won the NCAA title at Hayward Field last June with a wind-legal clocking of 13.16 seconds, breaking the meet record set by Olympic gold medalist Aries Merritt. Allen is the first collegian to win both NCAA and USA 110m hurdle titles in the same year since Renaldo Nehemiah in 1979.
TrackTown USA president Vin Lananna will host the event, and former UO three-sport star Jordan Kent will be the master of ceremonies. Don't miss it!
