PREFONTAINE RUN HOSTS FRANK SHORTER DURING FUN FESTIVAL

Race organizers for the 36th annual Prefontaine Memorial Run will be hosting famed American distance runner, Frank Shorter, during the Fun Festival weekend, announces Bob Huggins, executive director of the Prefontaine Memorial Committee. Shorter, both a competitor of Steve Prefontaine's and a close friend, was his teammate during the 1972 Munich Olympics and won the gold medal in the marathon.

Shorter will participate in the 10K Prefontaine Memorial Run on Saturday, September 19th and will be the Grand Marshall of the Fun Festival Parade, which is themed "Legend Steve Prefontaine - Born to Run."

Shorter will also participate in a speaking/appearance engagement open to the general public and free of charge to be held at Marshfield's Heritage Hall on Friday evening, September 18th at 6:30 PM. Heritage Hall is in the main gymnasium on the Marshfield Campus with parking available adjacent to the gym, with access from 7th St. just below the intersection with Hall Ave.
